After reading some of the posts on the Elite Forums regarding the Auction I wonder if the whole verification system of the playoff jerseys is really worth it.

The majority of them seem to end up in the hands of folk who couldnt give a stuff if they are registered / protected or not.

By the looks of things the guy who enters them puts a lot of time and effort into the system to make it as close the MeiGray as he can but some people dont seem to give a toss.

I am really not interested in buying anymore UK gamers, the market over here is awful.

There were certainly a number of problems with the Elite auctions this year and I believe that some of those may have arisen from over-engineering the authentification process.

I do think generally though that the market in the UK is very limited. In London there were maybe five collectors tops that I knew were serious, while a bunch of others would just get one or two shirts. If anything it's gone backwards now too, with there being no London team. For other reasons I've been trying to sell an armful of Jason Robinson jerseys for more than a month and I've not had much interest at all, despite the fact he's still in the country. And, it's not because they're particularly highly priced - they're not - but even if they were there's no interest period, not much in the way of offers either.

I put it down more widely to there being too many jerseys out there. The Meigrey arrangement is great, I think, but possibly responsible for a bit of market flooding. I can't speak for all other clubs, but London too produced WAAAAY too many shirts, which drove their value down the pan.
