just been on nhl gameworn and on there is a 2005/06 kaberle blue jersey for $495. it says blue set 1 (what does this mean). and also some players have stars next to their names and some dont. is nhl gameworn a good site to buy gamers from as a kaberle jersey for 495 seems to cheap

Set 1 means it was worn possibly pre-season and for the 1st third of the season [pre xmas]. set 2 is [i think] november-about january, then set 3 it remainder of the season + playoffs... If i remember correctly, the stars denote pre-orders but dont quote me on this...Hope this helps.

NHLgameworn is without doubt the best place to get NHL gamers from. Admittedly, it is also the only place to get current gamers from so they do have somewhat of a monopoly but they are amazing. The service is first rate and although the postage costs are really painfully high, it is well worth it.

The Meigray group in general is amazing. I had the pleasure of going to their premises in New Jersey last summer. An entire warehouse of jerseys. Absolutely amazing to walk around somewhere picking up All-Star Forsbergs, Bourqe Bruins jerseys, Stanley Cup Final Brodeur. Wow. Well worth a visit if you can.

I personally don't tend to buy NHL jerseys now, particuarly with the new rules, as the amount of wear that is on them is just terrible. I'm waiting on Jay McKee's Alt jersey from this season which was worn in 8 games, and he averaged twenty minutes plus a game, and I think it has like two marks on it. Makes me cry.

However, I would truely recommend their AHL and ECHL programs though. I'm waiting on Marty Flichel's (former Storm and Panther) home Idaho sweeter which unlike NHL jerseys which are worn for like eight games - if you're lucky - the ECHL/AHL jerseys see about twenty odd and subsequently get hammered as in those leagues they actually play hockey, not like the poor excuse for it we have in the NHL this season. They're a lot cheaper and gives you a great chance to pick up some great jerseys for players who used to ply their trade over here.

I've never been hit by Customs/Taxes with them yet (I've jinxed myself now). It's just the actual shipping costs - $60 for the inital jersey, and $5 for any additional jerseys. Admittedly, they are sent very fast, and well protected but it does make you wince paying for it.

I bought a jersey once and got caught by customs as well as the $60 I paid for shipping, it wouldnt be so bad but the jersey only cost me about $150 and then the $60 bumped it to $210 then about a week after it arrived I had a TNT customs bill for £45!!! - Most expensive preseason I ever bought!!!

Customs charges on Meigray dispatched items certainly hurt. I've had to pay £30 extra on a jersey and a similar amount on skates before. That said, the quality and authenticity from them is peerless.

The point about NHL wear from this season is well made, but the minors are often more likely to be where we'll find UK-based players anyway and they get more wear. There's little to pick in terms of cost between the two though, I find.

When I got my Nichol jersey last week i had to pay 11% duty and 17.5% vat I had to pay an extra £67

Meigray are awesome!a great company-have bought 3 gamers from them and never had a problem although i have been stung for customs.I bought a Peron 02-03 Roanoke Express and when the jersey arrived i had to pay parcel force £90!

Bought a Ken Hodge Jr Minnesota North Stars gamer off ebay for a bargain price of around £170 plus around $30 for shipping, jersey was sent USPS global priority mail then 3 weeks later a royal mail card dropped on the mat saying that they were holding a parcel for me but i had to pay a £35 customs charge before i could collect it Sad

I know the sender has to declare the value of the item but it is still a pain in the butt.

Another time bought a Hodge Boston Bruins jersey from Rich Ellis at spirit of the game a great guy to deal with, the jersey cost me around £465 shipping was around $50 - 60 dollars with Fedex! the jersey arrived about 3 days later very fast - then a week later got a customs bill for £20 most expensive jersey i have ever bought.

Just a bit of advice to avoid paying through the nose on customs tax. Ask the seller to mark up the package with a maximum value of $25 and declare the contents as "Used Clothing". This way you will avoid any nasty afters from the customs people. You will struggle to implement this with the big boys such as Meigray however, as they have their own shipping policies which they tend to stick religously too. With private purchases and purchases from teams direct you should try and push this all the time though. Good luck...and happy collecting!!

Just a little ad-on to Garths post.......remember though if the value is declared low....if ever there is a problem with the package, theirs no way of claiming for any other value other than that marked on the package. If youve bought a $500 jersey and it gets damaged/lost, youll only be able to claim the $30 or whatever the values declared at. I agree with Garth tho, most of the time I do get sellers to declare low, especially on GI's and other lower (sub $200) value items, but just remember, if its a really pricey jersey, are you prepared to take the risk? Sometimes it worth paying the little extra customs money for the peace of mind!

I have an agreement with MeiGray that each Jersey they send to me they mark down in value as it is ridiculious how much you get hit.

I have 3 jerseys to be sent (inc one SCF) and they total $2200 so I am taking a risk but the tax on that would just be far too much, but it is a gamble.
